Albert Lost 223.5 Pounds!
At age 40, I weighed 465 lbs. I told my wife I would not see my 50th birthday. She asked why I would say such a thing. I asked to name one person that she knew that was 50 years old and weighed 500 lbs. She had no answer which was my point. I swore I would never reach 500 lbs but I kept getting closer. I knew what I was doing to my body but it was easier to do nothing.
One day my wife came home from work and said Dr. Gray was starting a weight loss program. I told her if she would do it with me, I would give it a try. I needed her help and support. The thought of leaving her behind as an early widow was no longer acceptable. I wanted a long life with her.
I went to my first appointment and hit the scales at 482 lbs. I had a lot of work to do. My goal was to cut my weight in half. As a truck driver I sit 10 to 12 hours a day with no exercise. Once spring came, I started to walk at my deliveries for 30 to 60 minutes a day. By July, I had lost 142 lbs. I was ready to move to the next level. For once in my life I had the energy and was ready to exercise. The question was how and where.
One day at a delivery, I saw a gym that has multiple locations throughout the country. I thought this could be my answer. I looked into it and found out that I can work out any time of the day. I now have used 19 different locations. Since I have joined the gym, I have lost an additional 81 lbs and 10.6% fat for a total of 223.5 lbs and 27.8% fat.
As I am getting closer to my original goal of weighing 241 lbs, I am setting my goal now to 220 lbs. I have gone from getting winded walking up a flight of stairs to putting in 8-12 miles a day on the treadmill. I still have work to do but I have made it this far because of three things...
First, the strength, courage and grace of God. Second, the knowledge and guidance of Dr. Gray and third, the love and support of my wife. We both have a new look on life and can look forward to a long life together. I am forever grateful to Dr. Gray for getting me started on my weight loss.
