There is more than one way to lose weight. At MD Weight Loss, we try to determine the best diet for your particular situation. That’s why the first visit is one hour long…it takes some time to figure out your particular food weaknesses, likes, dislikes, physical limitations, medications, etc. Here is a partial list of available “plans”, but bear in mind, they can all be modified.

Caloric Restriction Diet:
Once he has determined your basal metabolic rate (BMR), Dr. Gray can tell you how many calories you need to eat each day to lose weight. He will give you recommended calorie amounts for each meal with guidelines about what to eat. This type of diet is often successful with the use of appetite suppressants.

Modified Diet:
This diet involves using high-protein shakes for one or two meals with regular nutritious food at the remaining meals. Appetite suppressants can also be used in this diet.

VLCD (very low calorie diet):
This diet uses mostly shakes, with a goal of 800 calories per day for a limited time period (usually no more than 12 weeks), eventually transitioning to regular food.

High-protein, low carbohydrate diet (Atkins):
This diet takes advantage of the appetite-suppressant effects of protein. This is a highly effective diet and can be maintained for a long time.

Paleo Diet:
This is another high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet, but with different restrictions, and with similar effects to the Atkins diet.

Appetite Suppressants:
Dr. Gray can prescribe phentermine, phendimetrazine, diethylpropion (Tenuate), Topamax, Belviq, or Contrave if needed.

How Much Does It Cost?
